Storage & Lifting of Concrete Poles

For Square Concrete Poles

Square concrete poles should be stored properly at the jobsite. Inadequate pole storing will cause the poles to have a sweep or bend. In order to properly pick up and store square concrete poles on the jobsite, the following procedure should be followed:

    1. Be sure to lift the pole from the two pick up points

  • For poles less than 45 feet, the first pick up point will be 1/3 the length of the pole from the tip and the second pick up point will be 5 feet from the butt or bottom of the pole.

  • For poles 45 feet or longer, first pick up point will be 1/3 the length of the pole from the tip and the second pick up point will be 10 feet from the butt or bottom of the pole.

      2. Store the poles in a level area

  • Use adequate dunnage as supports every 10 feet starting 3 feet from the tip of the pole

  • Be sure that the dunnage is holding the poles evenly.
